Who is ready to swim at Carlton this weekend?

Some important information about Saturday’s swim.
1. It is in the open water so be prepared for chop and waves. Every effort will be made to minimize the risk and we will have plenty of water safety on hand.
2. The course and timing of the swim waves will depend on the prevailing conditions. Two course options – 750 m and 1.5 k.
3. Registration is open from 9:00am til 10.15 am on Saturday.
4. At the registration you will be marked with a number and given a swim cap which must be worn. If you wish to wear another swim cap it must be under the cap that you are given.
5. You must attend the race briefing which will be conducted 15 minutes prior to the first race.
6. If you are swimming in the series for the first time or are inexperienced in ocean swimming it is recommended that enter in the 750 m event.
7. Time limits may apply. We need to be mindful of swimmer welfare and the welfare of our water safety and officials.
8. Wetsuits are recommended but not essential. The water temperature is warming quickly at Carlton but still hovering around 16 degrees.
9. The team challenge is a new concept that is going to be trialed at Carlton. We have not organised teams and we will make up some teams on the day. The team challenge will be held after the main event over a distance of approximately 400 m.

The YMCA Ocean Swim is part of a full day of activities including board and ski races, Healthy Horizon’s beach fun run, nipper events and the Navy surf boat series.

Food, drinks and a live band will all add to the festivities on the day and in to the evening.
